Everyone has a story to tell, and there is an art to getting someone to talk about an interesting aspect of their past. Having a meal or a hot drink with someone is often a way in, and when a story emerges it could be about one day in the life of so-and-so. That one day could be momentous, healing, funny, allegorical, fantastic and, I promise you, much more interesting than what is being shown on the TV screen.

I have sat with a number of people, older than myself, and written up their stories so that they could pass them on to their grandchildren.  The way stories come to me is usually in the form of fables; an intrinsic message doesn’t appear preachy, and yet concludes the memoir with a sentence worthy of reflection or an aha such as, “so this is why the horse jumped the gate and came into our life!”

If you have some stories with which you could leave a living legacy, I encourage you to reach out to me and make an appointment to share tea and company, which could turn into a lovely memoir of a dozen pages perhaps with a photo or two?  My prices are reasonable, and you can get a preview of my writing style by purchasing Fun with Fables from my website or any bookstore.

I will also do ghost-writing – you may wish to write your own book, and have me simply tweak and edit it?  I would keep the content confidential, because this would be your creation.

I recently wrote a short book about Ghosts, for educational reasons.  Victoria, BC is the Ghost capital of Canada and tourism exploits the ghosts here; I wanted to do my part for the trapped individuals and explain to those who like the excitement of being in a scary place, that this is perhaps not so cool?  Ghosts like to move on, really, and to repeat the narrative of a sad, short life tends to trap them.
